Prepare the activity
Set out one familiar page and a few crayons before starting. Choose a comfortable place with enough light to see the paper clearly. Avoid introducing a large new craft project when there is little time left.
Try it together
Tell your child when the activity will end, using an ordinary cue such as the next part of your routine. They do not need to finish the picture. A half-colored page can wait for another evening.
Keep it flexible
Let the child choose whether coloring fits that evening. If it becomes frustrating or lively, move on to a familiar quiet activity. This is a practical routine suggestion, not a treatment for sleep problems.
Choose a page for your next session
You can use your child’s own drawing or a coloring book you already own. For a baby-animal theme, explore the actual inside-page previews of our Baby Animals paperback. The English edition is designed for ages 4–8 and combines 40 baby animals with short animal facts. Choose supplies and supervision to suit your child.
